Fast Solution to Problem: custom control button in access 2007

custom control button in access 2007

Using a set of instructions I picked up somewhere along the way for creating custom control buttons for an older version of Access (possibly Access 95), I have created a "custom" control button in MS Word and copied it into my 2007 database.  Looks a lot
better than the standard MS offering.  I then set the On Click property to an event procedure that simply closes the form.

However, I've found when I click on the new button nothing happens.  I happened to have my cursor over the button and hit the right mouse button - then the left button as I normally would, and the button worked perfectly.  It seems that the extra click enabled
it, but I have no idea why or how.
I've tried changing the picture from bitmap to jpg, thinking it may have something to do with the format, but no joy.  I've also compared the properties of this new button to those of a standard Access button, and although there are differences, I don't see
anything obvious that I should change.
Is this type of button not a viable option in Access 2007?  Or, hopefully, is there a property setting i've possibly overlooked.  Or do I possibly need to do something to the Word version prior to copying it into the database?

A different approach could be to create an image of your word button in Paint or whatever.  Use that in an Image control in Access.  If it doesn't do the click event the way you want, then place a transparent command button on top of the image control
and use the button's click event.

Machine Throttling
  • Go to the Start button.
  • In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
  • Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
  • On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
  • Restart your system.
