After upgrading to Windows 7 on laptop, is it safe to remove Vista recovery partition?

I bought a laptop a couple of year back with Vista and it had a recovery partition on D drive.
When 7 came along, I updated my OS.
I now want to remove the vista recovery partition.
Is it safe to just format the D drive?
