All application links stopped working in one user profile on my desktop.

All of the application links in one of the user profiles on my desktop PC stopped working, however they still work on the other user profiles.  For example, Internet Explorer, iTunes, Audacity, etc.  When I select an application, I get the "Open With"
popup menu.  Going to the properties of the various applications, it appears that the ".exe" extension has dropped out of the filenames associated with the shortcuts, but only in that one profile.  The other profiles on the PC have the same shortcuts pointing
to the same files, however the .exe extensions show up when I look at properties in those other profiles.  Any recommendations?

Run CHKDSK

• Go to the Start button.
• In the Search box, type "cmd" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• At the command prompt, type "chkdsk /r /f" (without quotes) and press Enter.
• Reboot your computer.
