[Solution] After installing Windows XP SP3, I am unable to use my modem.

After installing Windows XP SP3, I am unable to use my modem.

I had Windows XP2 on two of my computers and one day it came up with a update to XP3 that it said you can download now so I asked Data Doctors about it and they said yea go ahead so I did.
But now I cant use my modem that I paid them to install new when
I bought from them.
When I tried to set up my fax modem it askes me to insert CD XP3 but I dont have one because I upgarded from on line.
How do I remove XP3 and reinstall my XP2 I still have my cd,s for both computers.

I suppose you could uninstall service pack 3 (using Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs), then install Fax Services, and then reinstall service pack 3, but I'm not sure of the consequences of doing that on all of the post-sp3 updates that have been
installed.

(If you really want to do things this way, I suggest seeking guidance from the experts in the

Windows Update forum by posting to ask "Is it safe to uninstall and reinstall xp sp3".  Include in the body of your post a question about the post-sp3 updates.)

Because you have a Windows XP sp2 CD, the best thing for you to do is to create an XP sp3 CD using the process called "slipstreaming."  If you have a CD burner on your computer (that is, a CD drive that can write as well as read CDs), this is a relatively easy
thing to do -- and it is always good to have an up to date XP installation CD handy.

There are many Internet sites that explain how to do this.  Here are 3:

Cleaning your computer, components, and peripherals help keep everything in good working condition and helps prevent germs from spreading. You can't image how dirty the inside of your computer case can get. All the dust and dirt is going to prevent proper air flow and may even prevent the fan from working.
