After the update of April 8, 2014, my computer automatically returns to the "Desktop" rather than to "Start" after closing a Modern App.
Ever since the automatic update to Windows 8.1 of April 8, 2014, when I close a Modern app the computer returns to the "Desktop" instead of the "Start" screen.
While initially I was annoyed with the "Start" screen I have become familiar with its operation
and it now has become my starting point of preference.
I have tried to change it back to automatically return to "Start" on App closure with no luck.
I have already unchecked the box for "When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead
of Start" in the "Taskbar and Navigation properties" window but it made no difference.
Any other suggestions?

I have this issue as well.
When I uncheck Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar, it closes to the start screen, but if it is checked, it closes to the desktop.
